Since the last update of summer track feats at the NSW Country Championships in mid January, there has been lots of great runs by KJ athletes.
Ryan Gregson As widely reported elsewhere, Ryan has had 3 runs for 3 Commonwealth Games ("CG") qualifiers 1.47.06 for 800m at Hunter Track Classic - CG B Qualifier 3.37.35 for 1500m at Graham Briggs Classic (Tasmania) - CG A Qualifier 3.35.46 for 1500m at Sydney Track Classic - CG A Qualifier Great runs even by Ryan's high standards !!! Off to Melbourne to shake up Kenya's top 800m runner next Thursday 4 March and then seal CG berth with placing at Australian Open Championship 1500m race in April in Perth. Go Ryan !!! Kevin Batt Ryan s training partner has also caught the speed disease with his three latest runs. Won Australian Junior XC 8km trial race in Melbourne in January and selected for Australian Junior XC team at World XC Championships in Poland at end of March. 14.04.77 for 5km at Graham Briggs Classic (Tasmania) blitzing the 14.15.00 qualifying standard for World Junior Track Championships in Canada in July. Second in Stromlo Running Festival Age handicap race in Canberra 2 weeks ago earning substantial prizemoney (very handy to pay for Polish trip expenses) Now preparing for Australian Championship Junior 5km track race at Homebush in March in 10 days time to confirm selection for trip to Canada (see above). Melissa Logan/Sarah Carli/Christian Tozer/Naomi Polyzoidis Excellent performances at NSW Junior Championships 2 weeks ago winning silver and bronze medals as follows:- Melissa 2nd U20 400m Hurdles in 64.64 Sarah 3rd U18 400m Hurdles in 65.98 Christian 3rd U16 1500m in 4.17.71 Naomi 3rd U16 100m Hurdles in14.02 and 3rd in 200m Hurdles in 30.95 All have automatically qualified for Australian Junior Championships in March.
